With a dual degree in Math and Education from Kennesaw State University, Dave Kelterborn is Sports Turf Management’s expert in laser grading. He has earned the nickname “Laser Dave” for his uncanny ability to precisely calculate the right level and slopes for the construction and renovation of athletic fields. Kelterborn’s first priority is safety and he is a perfectionist when it comes to providing the best playing surface possible for athletics.

For more than seven years, Kelterborn has been a volunteer at Hobgood Park in Cherokee County. He has served on the Board of Directors, holding posts responsible for uniforms and equipment and public relations programs. As a coach for youth baseball at Hobgood, Kelterborn has been a part of shaping three championship teams in which his sons participated. Although Kelterborn was extremely busy managing his own construction company and teaching mathematics in high school, he still managed to work in maintaining numerous fields at the facility for almost two years. According to “Laser Dave,” he was donating so much time to athletic field management that it made sense to join the Sports Turf Management team and work with Skip Kirby whom he had met during the construction of the Hobgood Park fields.

Prior to his involvement with Sports Turf Management and becoming an educator, Kelterborn owned a successful construction company. A versatile individual, Kelterborn played not only baseball, but also soccer and basketball at Williamsville High School in Western New York.
